Premarital Counseling in Minneapolis, MN

Nonreligious Minneapolis premarital counseling

Many Minnesota couples want some premarital counseling, but they don’t know where to start. Here’s a quick review of the premarital education programs available in the Twin Cities, MN area:

  • The Catholic Church has always required and provided premarital counseling, and they call it Pre-Cana. It’s usually a weekend workshop retreat, and much of it focuses on how you can integrate the Church into your married life.
  • The Prepare/Enrich program is only similar to Pre-Cana in that it is 12 hours long. This program can be religious or non-religious, and often either takes place in 6 two- hour sessions (maybe one per week), or 2 six-hour sessions (often over a weekend).
  • Locally, if couples are looking for Minnesota premarital counseling that is shorter, then you might want to check out Before Your Wedding Day Premarital Education in the Twin Cities. This premarital education program is also based on the Prepare/Enrich program, but unlike other iterations, this is only two evenings, at 60-90 minutes per session. Full disclosure – that’s my beautiful wife in the screen-shot above! Whether or not you use my services, her program is most often nonreligious premarital counseling (although some couples choose to address the topic of religion, and that’s appropriate, too, although less common).

I hope the above helps!
